The not-so-secret FORMULA

“Whoever works righteousness, man or woman, and has faith, verily, to them will We give a new Life, a life that is good and pure, and We will bestow on such their reward according to the best of their actions.”- Surat AnNahl 16:97

[Lessons from this Verse]
The keys to Success: Eman and Righteous deeds. Eman and Righteous deeds. It’s repeated everywhere in the Qur’an.
Ask yourself, what can I do this week to increase my Eman? And what can I do this week to increase my righteous deeds?

With best wishes to see you succeed at the highest level!

A Sister In Need of Sadaqa!

As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

There is a sister in the W. Chester area that has relocated from another state ( which cant be revealed because this is a DV issue and confidentiality is paramount) She is a young sister with no children, a convert to Islam over the past few years. She has relocated to this area for safety reasons, she is in need of several things. We have made contact with the staff at the shelter and have verified all of her information , she has been very well spoken for. She has managed by the grace and mercy of Allah to secure a part time job here in philly and we have been able to secure her a place at least for the next few months until she is able to get back on her feet inshallah.

Inshallah we are meeting tomorrow to pay for her housing expenses and to provide her with food (halal meats) at least for the next few weeks inshaAllah. but there are other things that she is in need of that we are requesting assistance with….

Khimars (Hijabs) She only has one

Overgarments (Jilbabs) She has none ( she wears a size 9-10)

The sister will need a small used or new mini refrigerator for her room to store her foods inshallah

any Islamic literature and books ,prayer rugs etc.

Any non perishable food items

Personal toiletries (halal) or gift cards so she can purchase them herself.

The sister is a very well spoken and mannerly sister with a love for this deen , MashaAllah, she has been through a very difficult situation, if you cant donate anything make dua for her that Allah will continue to keep her strong and within the fold of Islam and that He makes her succesful in her road to recovery, amin

Any donations/cards or words of encouragement that you may want to send her way, you can contact us sistas@sista2sista.org or call us at 267-331-2401 or mail to Sista2Sista Inc. c/o Sadaqa for Sister in WCHES, P.O. Box 38172, Philadelphia, Pa. 19141.

Also here are some of the recent request that have come in as well as some updates inshallah….

The sister that we told you all about who has been paying rent to her landlord and found out that the house she has been renting is up for sherriff sale is still looking for housing for her and her children. We had gotten some info from some of our readers about different houses for rent and the one that we thought was going to be a go(so to speak) the sister who was supposedly renting the house has never gotten back with us (MashaAllah) If any of you have a house for rent or know of someone that does and it is available now , please let us know.

There is another sister that was forced to move out of her home this past January , she has five children, she works full time, she has money saved up however she is unable to find adequate housing for her and her children. Her children are scattered in different homes around the city.

There is an older sister in need of affordable housing. she is on a fixed income and struggling to maintain. she is staying in a one bedroom apt with a non muslim family member.

FYI - We ask that you all please make dua for the sisters and brothers that have been of a great assistance to Sista2Sista Inc. by helping to provide some of the help to these sisters in need… May Allah reward them all and make their paths to Jannah easy and light, Amin….

I don’t want to reveal identities for many reasons but just so you will have an idea
there are a few brothers and sisters that have donated monies, clothing, temporary shelter and cards etc. These things have helped to ease the difficult transitions that many of these Muslim sisters are faced with and we commend the efforts of everyone that assisted no matter how large or small, May Allah reward you and them, amin.

Make dua for us …
Sista2Sista Inc.

InshaAllah we are forever thankful and grateful to Allah for all the blessings that He bestows upon us everyday by allowing us to be used as a vessel to give some of these families hope, We pray that Allah will continue to allow us to do what we are able to do for our sisters and brothers in need and that He not only allow us to continue to strive to attain Jannah but along the way we remain humble in knowing that this could very well be us in the very situations that we attempt to help . We ask that you all make dua for us as we do for you inshaAllah.

AMEEN!

Rise Above It!

Courtesy Deep Thinker…

What you have expresses as a healthy giving of service. You gotta give what you gotta give. You might be shy about it, a beginner at it, but you have to express it, show it, serve it, give it. You have to give your heart, your essence, your stuff— that which is important to you. It may be your pearl of great price that you have to offer or some fruitful beauty born of pain. If you lay it out in sharp exquisite detail, it will take someone’s breath away as they suck it into the heart of the hurt. And when they breathe out, toxins will leave and fresher air will come into the lungs again and that which is toxic and laced with shame will flow out.

It has been said that we are only as sick as your secrets. Secrets that make us sick are those that have the seeds of our own condemnation. I can’t look at it, we think, without thinking. This is out of my grasp, out of my handling, outside of my comprehension. If you can’t tell it—to someone, at least to yourself, it is because you have condemned yourself. I promise you this—if you are condemning yourself, you are not seeing the matter aright.

There is an aspect of you that is forever pure and undefiled, that has not been touched by your errors and your misjudgments. It has not been disturbed by your missed opportunities or shaped by the time you have wasted. Step up to that self. Bow down to that self. Embrace that self. Receive the forgiveness of that self. Say oh, and ah and ah ha! as you come to look at that which you condemn and fear with new eyes. The truth sets you free.

There is no such thing as an outside world the way we have been conditioned to think of it. Our fundamental mistake is that we think of externals as “the cause.” We think: This problem in my face is caused by conditions that are outside of me. They are controlling me! Thus, we are always figuring out how to react. We try to make the most of things and some of us are better at that than others, but there is always someone or something outside of us calling the shots. There is someone outside we are trying to please in exchange for their favor. Or so it seems, but it is not so. Cause is internal. Maybe deeper than consciousness, but internal. Maybe more than personal, but internal. The world outside is really the world inside. You are at the controls. Change within and change without will follow.

Hear this! Neither are we left to our own devices. It is not our strength or strategy that wins the day. What wins the day is hooking up to an intelligence that lifts us up. This intelligence is causal and its cause is always for our good. Even if it is bad, it is meant for our good.

Love is the key. Love is the luminous intelligence of nature. Like the glyph of Venus, Love is spirit over matter, a light on the path, the ability to rise above and see a way.

One more tip: Time is never the issue. We say we don’t have time, when we really don’t have inclination. Time doesn’t run out, but opportunities may be missed. Practice saying “I’m not inclined,” instead of, “I don’t have time.” This makes it more a matter of choice than something outside your control.

Abdel Latif Fund Appeal

As-Salaamu ‘Alaykum,

Inna lilahi wa ina ilayhe rajaun. Br. Abdel Latif passed away, April 28, 2007. Please seek Allah’s forgiveness for your brother.

May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala forgive his sins, ease all matters, and grant him a place in Jennat al Firdous. AMEEN.

“To Allah belongs what He took and to Him belongs what He gave…”
———- Forwarded message ———-

We have been visiting Br. Abdel Latif at the hospital. He is the brother who had a 6 inch malignant brain tumor removed and then suffered sepsis (infection). Earlier this week he was still coming in and out of consciousness and giving salaams with his hand. Now the brother’s blood pressure is very low. They increased his sedation. Last night I talked with the nurse who confirmed that Abdel Latif’s lungs, kidneys, and liver are all failing.

Although we continue to ask Allah Almighty to give him cure, we do recognize the approach of death. FAITH is appealing now for the following:

1) Donations in preparation for Br. Abdel Latif’s janazah. The Janazah costs are about $5,000. May Allah Ta’ala reward this good deed - Br. Abdel Latif has no family in the area able to do this for him.

2) Br. Abdel Latif’s wife is 8 months pregnant with their first child. They do not have house, savings, and Sr. Hanimi cannot work. We are asking for donations for support of a widow and orphan for one year insha’Allah. Our goal is $30,000 — alhamdulillah we have already raised $26,000, so $4,000 remains.

3) Contributions towards a separate trust account for Abdel Latif’s child in support of his or her education. This is a sadiqah jariah and education assistance for a yateem. Our goal for the trust is $10,000.

Please donate $50 towards the “Abdel Latif Fund Appeal”.

Make your check out to “FAITH” and mail to:

May Allah Ta’ala reward you!

Your FAITH donations are tax-deductible. Any funds raised in excess of the appeal goals are always used toward similar cases.
