They’re Called Dream Killers

Posted in Miscellaneous at 4:31 pm by Shhh....

When I wake up in a fantastic mood like I did today I can pretty much expect that someone, somehow will try to steal my joy. My friend Kim calls them Dream Killers and they come in many different forms.

They could be the chick at work who for some reason has decided that she doesn’t like you. You haven’t dated her boyfriend, talked about her Mama, or been rude to her at all, but still, she can’t even look you in the face when she talks to you. When you’re in a team meeting and it’s your turn to speak, you see her face scrunch up as she turns away. She tries to get as many people as she can to join her in her disgust for you. She’s on a mission to come up with reasons why she should dislike you.

I used to be very hurt because I expected to receive the same energy and respect that I put out, but then I realized something very important: she feels threatened.

In some way she has allowed you to make her feel as though she is not up to par. That’s why she criticizes all of your ideas and smirks when you are corrected by your boss. She yearns for the day when you fall on your butt because that is where she is and she wants you to join her in her misery. Don’t fall victim to her plot. Keep it happy! Keep it smiling! Keep it positive! And continue to be nice to her.

Have you ever heard the saying, “Hurting people hurt people”? It’s true. Anytime someone is rude to me, I automatically know it is because they are lacking in some area of their life. People project what they are being fed and if someone has a bad attitude it’s primarily because those close to them are not treating them well and in turn they have lost their love for themselves.

Why Is There So Much Hate Inside Us?

Posted in Miscellaneous at 3:00 pm by Shhh....

In the shop next to my house, there is a home delivery service which is run by an Indian. He is a good man, hardworking and devoted to his job. I talk to him whenever he delivers something to my house and he talks to me about the time he spent working in Abu Dhabi and of his dream to live in London.

Last week I asked him to deliver a newspaper to my house. When he delivered it to me, he asked me whether I wrote in it. I told him that I did and he asked me to write about why young Saudis hate foreign workers, particularly Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis. He asked, “Why do they throw rocks at us when they see us in the street?” He said that in India they were taught to love others because that is the teaching of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). I was moved by his words and promised him that I would write on the subject. Read the rest of this entry »

GREAT FALLS, VA - The Peaceful Families Project (PFP) strongly condemns the tragic
beheading of Aasiya Hassan of Buffalo, NY on February 12th. Police have taken her
husband, Muzzammil Hassan into custody and charged him with second degree murder.
Aasiya Hassan was found on Thursday evening following Muzzammil Hassan’s arrival
at the police station indicating she could be found in his office at Bridges TV.
Aasiya Hassan had recently filed for divorce, and had a protective order issued
against Muzzammil Hassan on February 6th. Police continue to search for the murder
weapon.

In a statement today, PFP said: “As the national Muslim organization in the United
States solely devoted to ending domestic violence, we at PFP condemn, in the strongest
terms possible, the horrific, brutal, and sadistic beheading of Aasiya Hassan.
There is no justification for domestic violence of any kind, including psychological,
verbal, physical, and sexual abuse. We have heard from numerous Muslim leaders,
imams, activists, and families voicing their outrage against this calamity. We
call upon Muslim families and leaders across the country to vocally address this
tragedy in their communities by clarifying Islam’s stance against domestic violence.
We hope that every Muslim community will actively join us in working to end all
forms of domestic violence in Muslim families by raising awareness and developing
effective programming. We send our sincere prayers and heartfelt condolences to
Aasiya Hassan’s family and friends, and hope that the perpetrator of this monstrous
crime will be brought to justice.”

Prominent Orchard Park man charged with beheading his wife

Posted in Pearls of Wisdom at 12:37 pm by Shhh....

May Allah protect our sisters and correct the affairs of our brothers. Ameen

By Gene Warner
News Staff Reporter

Orchard Park police are investigating a particularly gruesome killing, the beheading of a woman, after her husband — an influential member of the local Muslim community — reported her death to police Thursday.

Police identified the victim as Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37. Detectives have charged her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, with second-degree murder.

“He came to the police station at 6:20 p.m. [Thursday] and told us that she was dead,” Orchard Park Police Chief Andrew Benz said late this morning.

Muzzammil Hassan told police that his wife was at his business, Bridges TV, on Thorn Avenue in the village. Officers went to that location and discovered her body.

Muzzammil Hassan is the founder and chief executive officer of Bridges TV, which he launched in 2004, amid hopes that it would help portray Muslims in a more positive light.

The killing apparently occurred some time late Thursday afternoon. Detectives still are looking for the murder weapon.

“Obviously, this is the worst form of domestic violence possible,” Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III said today.

Authorities say Aasiya Hassan recently had filed for divorce from her husband.

“She had an order of protection that had him out of the home as of Friday the 6th [of February],” Benz said.

Muzzammil Hassan was arraigned before Village Justice Deborah Chimes and sent to the Erie County Holding Center.
