Jummah on Capitol Hill Returns
For the second year, Imam Abdul Malik brings the time honored Muslim prayer service, Jummah, to Capitol Hill on Friday, October 15, 2010.
“We intend to show the beauty of religious freedom and religious diversity in America,” said Abdul Malik.
The goals and efforts are to further demonstrate that the Muslim community should be a vital component to America’s national security. This event should help encourage a more comprehensive and practical approach to the war on terror. In addition, this event should show that Muslims and Islam refutes, rejects and repudiates all extremist and radical views that misrepresent our pristine faith.
“Muslims in America have a major responsibility to ensure the protection and well being of this nation and the future of America’s children. We are encouraging the Muslim world to take full responsibility for their destiny without blaming Israel, America or any other western nation, while working in harmony and peace with other faith traditions,” Abdul Malik said.
“Islam has been prescribed to us a religion of peace, liberation and responsibility. We hope to be successful in inspiring a new generation of American Muslims that can practice their faith in the absence of hatred, bigotry, violence and unnecessary rejection while being an added compliment to the greatness of America.”
The day includes a leadership breakfast, Jummah prayer at 1:00 p.m., and afternoon women’s conference and a family banquet culminating the evening.
