Not really news or a surprise….

For the earlier part of Mann Page Ciesemier’s life, race had never been much of an issue. He was raised in the predominately white suburb of Wheaton, Il., where all but one of his friends was white. He’d always known that his mother’s family had roots in Virginia, and when he was in his early teens, he said he got up the nerve to ask his mother: “Did our family own slaves?” She answered sternly: “Yes, but we were kind!” That was the end of the matter until decades later when he met an old medicine man who would start him on a journey that would help him discover his African-American relatives. This is Mann Page Ciesemier’s essay:

Fifteen years ago, I put together a management retreat that took my coworkers and me from Chicago to Phoenix for charity work. Initially, our plan was to work in an impoverished black community. But not many blacks in Phoenix needed our help so we turned our attention to a group of Native Americans.

Ask Victoria Beckham today whether she believes segregation of the sexes is a good thing, and chances are, she’ll say yes.

The famous English footballer David Beckham (“Becks” to fans and tabloids) is facing allegations that he cheated on his wife with his “interpreter”, Rebecca Loos. And his wife — “Posh” from the erstwhile pop music group Spice Girls – is said to be devastated. The interpreter in question– a good-looking , young woman who speaks several languages was assigned as an aide to the sports star, when he shifted base from England to Spain after switching teams from Manchester United to Real Madrid.

Assalamu Alakum

I pray that everyone is in the best of health and iman. Enjoying and seeking the reward for this most wonderful time of the year. The Community Closet is still in operation after several years allhumdulillah. We are seeking the usual donations this time of year as well as specific needs of people who are asking assistance inshallah.
Unfortunately we are having some problems getting donations for some of the
families. I pray you can help inshallah. with the cost of gas and food some of the families in the community are struggling just to feed their children. this is a very hard situation we are all in and inshallah if we can share some of the blessings we have received it will lighten the load inshallah. there are five inshallah that are seeking assistance right now but there are always new people who call or write mashaallah and need things as well so the list is ongoing inshallah .I will describe them all are in need of food, clothing and any financial help you may
be able to assist with inshallah.
but please remember to help with zakaat al fitr as well as zakaat for all the families inshaallah.

family 1 is an older sick sister with several health impairments .this sister is on disability and has a lot of medications to take . she could use help with diabetic foods and clothing inshaallah

family 2 is a husband and wife with four small children. they are in a struggle just to pay their rent every month and food and household items are in need. inshallah

family 3 is a husband and wife with 6 children a couple of the children are
disabled mashaallah and the mother is a bit ill mashaallah they are having trouble buying food and clothing. as well as some financial problems

family 4 mashaallah is a brother who has 6 children and very very limited resources to care for them inshaallah.any help you could give him would be of great benefit

family 5 is a sister and brother with three small children they are limited on food inshallah the brother is not working so if anyone in the Baltimore area knows of openings inshallah work would be great as well.

there are also several families in the area who need food items and toiletries inshaallah

9:71 The Believers, men and women, are protectors one of another: they enjoin what is just, and forbid what is evil: they observe regular prayers, practice regular charity, and obey Allah and His Messenger. On them will Allah pour His mercy: for Allah is Exalted in power, Wise.

9:75 Amongst them are men who made a covenant with Allah, that if He bestowed on them of His bounty, they would give (largely) in charity, and be truly amongst those who are righteous.
